The Grameen Bank (GB) has developed a successful model of poverty alleviation in Bnagladesh through providing the poor's access to micr-credit scheme. The contribution of GB to the GDP of Bangladesh was estimated at 1.10% in 1996. There has been a large-scale replication of the Grameen model throughout 34 countries of the world.
